Founded in 2005 by its conductor, Margaret Thornhill, the Los Angeles Clarinet Choir has in a short time become one of North America's premiere clarinet ensembles. Most members have college degrees in clarinet performance. Committed to performing new original music and arrangements for this unique medium, the LACC is the dedicatee of works by Cansino, Gurol, Avshalomov, and Cummings, gave west coast premieres of works by Ellerby, Curtis, Johnston, and Linkola
In 2007, they were the only clarinet choir to be selected for the International Clarinet Association ClarinetFest in Vancouver, British Columbia. In 2010, they performed at ClarinetFest10, in Austin, Texas, and in 2011 were featured at the Los Angeles ClarinetFest11.They have performed to a standing-room-only concert at the South Pasadena Eclectic Music Festival in 2010 and 2011. Watch this space for details of their June, 2012, performance of original Japanese music for clarinet choir at the Norton Simon Museum, in Pasadena.
LACC is registered with the State of California as a 501c3 non-profit educational and cultural corporation.
