Founded in 2005 by its conductor, Margaret Thornhill, the Los Angeles Clarinet Choir has in a short time become one of North America's premiere clarinet ensembles. Most members have college degrees in clarinet performance. Committed to performing new original music and arrangements for this unique medium, the LACC is the dedicatee of works by Cansino, Gurol, Avshalomov, and Cummings, gave west coast premieres of works by Ellerby, Curtis, Johnston, and Linkola.

In 2007, they were the only clarinet choir to be selected for the International Clarinet Association ClarinetFest in Vancouver, British Columbia. In 2010, they performed at ClarinetFest2010, in Austin, Texas, and were featured at the Los Angeles ClarinetFest in 2011. They have performed to a standing-room-only audience at the South Pasadena Eclectic Music Festival in 2010 and 2011, and in June 2012 were presented in concert at the Norton Simon Museum of Art at Pasadena in a program of original Japanese music for clarinet choir, "Celebrating Sakura."
The LACC is registered with the State of California as a 501(c)(3) non-profit educational and cultural corporation.
