LOS ANGELES CLARINET CHOIR
A B O U T L A C C
Founded in 2005 by its principal conductor, Dr. Margaret Thornhill, the Los Angeles Clarinet Choir is one of North America's premiere clarinet ensembles. Most members have college degrees in clarinet performance or the equivalent in college-level study. Committed to performing and premiering new original music and arrangements for this unique medium, the LACC is the dedicatee of works by Kovler, Cansino, Gurol, Avshalomov and Curtis, and gave west coast premieres of works by Whitlock, Curtis, Ellerby, Linkola and Johnston, as well as many contemporary Japanese composers.
In 2007, the LACC was the only clarinet choir selected by audition to perform at the International Clarinet Association ClarinetFest in Vancouver, British Columbia, and they were featured performers at ClarinetFest 2010 in Austin, Texas, 2011 at California State University, Northridge, in Los Angeles, and 2017 in Orlando, Florida. In July of 2019, they will travel to ClarinetFest19 in Knoxville, Tennessee.
The Choir has performed for standing-room-only audiences in annual appearances at the South Pasadena Eclectic Music Festival from 2009--2013, at the Vandoren Clarinet Ensemble Festival at UCLA in 2010, and for schools, senior centers, and libraries throughout Southern California, including Biola University, the Baldwin Hills School District, Westminster Gardens senior community, Cal Poly Pomona, and many others.
In June, 2012, the LACC presented a unique program of original music for clarinet choir by Japanese composers at the Norton Simon Museum of Art at Pasadena, "Celebrating Sakura." Our Japanese program is available by request for special performances at your venue.
The Los Angeles Clarinet Choir is now booking concerts for 2023-24. We have a history of performing for residential senior communities with an events series, as well as Universities schools, and other concert venues. Please email us at the contact above for our availability and our booking rate.
